L.A. Rex--Finally Getting Its Due

Will Beall's L.A. Rex got the bum's rush last year when it came out. I mean, it got some good reviews, but it also got reviews along the line of "hyper violent" or "unrealistic." Yeah, unrealistic in the sense that it doesn't buy into the cliche of what you expect from a hard-nosed crime novel from a cop's point of view. Unrealistic in the sense that it's beautifully written in a muscular way and has some of the most surreal and stunning scenes I've read in a thriller in a long time. This was my favorite crime/thriller/mystery of last year. And now, finally, he's getting the due he deserves. I love the story about the tiger/jaguar--and about having to leave out stuff that reviewers and readers might find too unbelievable even though it's true.Anyway, pick up this book--it's great.Jeff
