Brushes With Television
Returning to the madness, in the past week the above video was almost taken by a national wacky videos show (kind of glad it wasn't just because I fear they're trawling for so much stuff because of the writer's strike), and the email below was sent to me in all seriousness by a respected production company, after someone apparently mis-read my fictional Festival of the Freshwater Squid...Dear Jeff:I'm writing from a UK-based television production company, called -----, that makes world-renowned wildlife and science documentaries. We're currently making a new wildlife documentary series that will be shown internationally and involves our presenter travelling to different countries and looking at various animals. We're travelling to the Everglades in January to do some filming and I came across some information on the mayfly squid. The article you wrote on them and the festivals which have been created around them are really interesting and I was hoping you might be able to help answer a few questions relating to this?Do you know if mayfly squid can be found within the Everglades? Do you know of any locations that are particularly good for them and what kind of habitats do they prefer? Do you know if there is a particular time of year and time of day that is best to see them?I'd be really appreciative of any help you can give,Kind Regards,X
