Arthur C. Clarke Award Finalists

Yep, they've been announced, as I reported on Amazon today.I have no personal complaints with the list--it seems like a nice mix. At the same time, it seems to be saying, "Hey--Americans and most genre SF generally: pick up your game!" Which is a good message, as far as I'm concerned.The glaring omission, as far as I'm concerned, is The Stone Gods by Jeanette Winterson, which I thought was really excellent. If it overreached a little bit, well, what's wrong with being ambitious?
