It's Jack O'Connell/Resurrectionist Week at Ecstatic Days

I couldn’t be more pleased to be able to host Jack O’Connell Resurrectionist Week today through Friday on this blog. Not only will long-time favorite O’Connell be contributing, but I’ll also be posting pieces on his work by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Shaw, and Ron Hogan.Jack O'Connell is the author of four critically acclaimed novels, which have earned him something of a cult status. His work has been praised by James Ellroy, Nail Gaiman, Katherine Dunn and Jonathan Carroll, among others. Another fan, George Pelacanos (author of The Night Gardener), wrote, "In [his] remarkable books, Jack O'Connell has riffed on language, fire-cleansed genre conventions, and stripped the artifice from the modern noir novel, creating a body of work both exciting and entirely original." His latest novel is The Resurrectionist. The author lives with his wife and two children in Worcester, Massachusetts. As I wrote as preamble to my Amazon interview with O’Connell: Jack O'Connell's The Resurrectionist is one of the most original American novels of the year. A quest by a father to save his son, a tale of mad scientists and dream-logic, the story of a band of "freaks" on their own strange journey, and the chronicle of an odd coma clinic, the book defies easy classification.
