Books Received and Bought: NYC, First Second, Tor, McNally Jackson, and More

(The wonderful Gina Gagliano, publicist for First Second Books, at their offices in NYC)(At Tor with the amazing Dot Lin and incredible Liz Gorinsky)Just back from New York and heading back into the novel, but thought I'd post some photos of books we picked up and that were given to us...Two of the coolest books for kids I've ever seen--from Kingfisher, owned by the same parent company as First Second. I will be featuring these on Amazon. Just marvelous.A great oversized children's book. This hilarious punk rock book, which includes cartoons to make some of its point, is another must-buy. And the alphabet pop-up book is great, too. (Details of the interior below.)A book that came right before we left, that I'm reviewing for someone, and a freebie mystery Ann picked up at Tor.We had a chance to browse at McNally Jackson bookstore on Prince Street, and it proved nearly fatal--especially since we went back--but we managed to resist a few temptations. Still, I couldn't resist McSweeney's #26 (the two booklets and the "invasion" book), and A Universal History of the Destruction of Books. I had been looking for The Delighted States for awhile--ever since I read Michael Dirda's somewhat snotty repudiation of the book. It was the kind of review that makes you think the book is probably worth reading. So far, it is.Hmm. Wonder what two friends are getting these two books...Both of these, in an odd way, constitute continuing research for Finch. Finally, this book was waiting for us when we got home, for an interview I'm doing with Gibbons for Amazon.
