Right Before the Panic Sets In: Guestbloggers, Links, Book Tour Progress

Just a few notes, updates, and links, with about 22 days to go before attending the World Fantasy Convention, the kick-off for my five-week Endurance Tour for Finch and Booklife...Guest BloggingWhile I'm on the road, cool peoples will be guest blogging here (Nov. 3 through Dec. 12), including (in no particular order):

Felix GilmanKameron HurleyCharles TanRima AbunasserEugie FosterDavid MolesLavie TidharRochita Loenen-RuizRachel SwirskyWill HindmarchCaren GussoffShane HoverstenLuis RodriguesEden RobinsKelly ShawGio ClairvalMark C. Newton

This time around any or all of them will be posting during that period--no one is assigned to a particular week--and I will be popping in from the book tour at irregular intervals. There will also be a Twitter feed housed at the top of the blog so I can post short updates and anecdotes from the road. (Closer to the time, I'll repost the guest blogger list with links to their own websites/blogs.)LinkageI did a long-ish feature on Amazon about PS Publishing, including a short interview with Peter Crowther. Meanwhile, Brain Harvest has posted the second-place winner in their contest (I was the judge). Later this week, Amazon's book blog will include my pairing of Stone Brewing's 09.09.09 Vertical Epic Ale with two amazing books and, on Friday, my short review of the new Dungeon graphic novel from Sfar and Trondheim.Prep for the TourWe've added J.M. McDermott as a special guest for the Atlanta event at Manuel's--and, if I haven't already mentioned it, I will be reading with Mur Lafferty and special guest Natania Barron at the Chapel Hill Comics Shop on November 10th. We're hoping to add events in Baltimore and Richmond, and then call it a day and post the entire schedule within the next week. Now I've got to spend a good ten days putting together the materials, writing the lectures, testing the workshop presentations, rehearsing the readings. Some of the stuff is already prepared, but when you've got 30 events, it's best to make sure everything is tight and the way you want it well before you hit the road. Other things, like mini computer for the road, new glasses, new (winter) clothes, extended battery for the phone, and similar details also need to be taken care of. It really is like planning a little mini-war. Some of those details are really important, too, even though small. Like getting a pair of shoes that can double for casual and dress-up situations, to save luggage space. Nothing's worse than being on the road for so many weeks and lugging a metric ton of stuff with you. So...that's where I'm at. Fun, fun, fun.
