Reportin' From the Road, Don't Mind Me...

(Ann, and our friend Tessa in San Fran right after World Fantasy Con. Will I pay for posting this photo? I might...)Catch me at Powell's, Cedar Hills, tomorrow at 4pm... (and awesome, awesome guest blogging thus far...)It's Jeff, just checking in to say the tour is going great thus far. We had close to 70 people at the University Bookstore for my joint reading with Cherie Priest and Cat Rambo, and the turn out for the Willamette University gig was quite as impressive.(Ann with one of Borderland Books' hairless cats, San Fran)Tonight we finished up the Press Club party/reading in Portland with Jay Lake, Cat Rambo, and Jeff Johnson, to a boisterous and healthy audience of a bit over forty. It's been great fun so far--reading in so many diverse venues to so many different audiences. My voice is going a bit, but the pharmacist gave me "saliva replacement gum," which is not as gross as it sounds.(Cat Rambo, reading to the University Bookstore crowd.)The day previous, I'd driven down to Oregon with Victoria Blake, my editor at Underland, and we'd gone to Willamette University. I spoke to a writing class, then Victoria and I talked about publishing and new media to another group, and finally I did my reading, at which I also told the "professional cockroach" story. Heh. It seemed to go over well, and it was a big crowd. As might be expected, the guy with the Murder by Death t-shirt asked about Murder by Death's Finch soundtrack.(Willamette, also showing the back of the state capital building.)Other cool stuff is happening--like Booklife already going into a second printing--and national press coverage for Finch, along with national radio coverage. Also, if you missed it, Largehearted Boy posted my playlist for Finch and the San Antonio Current published an interview with me and a review of Finch. (You'll have to google those links, as I've got limited internet access at the moment.)(Relaxing Chinese Garden in Portland...)(About half an hour before showtime at the Press Club.)
