I-Con Photos

(interior of the green room)Here're our I-Con photos, mostly from the dealer's room. It was an interesting con.The hotel was 30 minutes from the college the events were held at (Stonybrook, NY), and the green room was partially in a racquetball court, which we didn't realize at first--we were just saying the background pattern on the walls was cool...and then we realized it was ball scuffs...and then we realized we were in a racquetball court! Amazing how the mind can play tricks. So we came in, did our schtick in panels, workshops, whatever, and then we were going home again. They canceled our outgoing flight but then stuck us in first class on an earlier flight, so that was great.Had a lovely time hanging out with Liz Gorinsky, Elizabeth Bear, Paolo B, Sheila Williams, Carol Emshwiller, Norman Spinrad, John McCarthy, etc. (I know we met more people, but my mind's a sieve right now.) Had a great time, too, almost getting lost with Jonathan Wood, who it was wonderful to meet for the first time.It was the first genre con in the US we've gone to in over two years, actually, something we hadn't realized. Mostly it's been overseas cons, workshops, book festivals, etc.
